It's the basis for services rendered, and you have a choice about wanting to stick to being stuck to that basic level, or allowing yourself more freedom by adding usage layers that are specifically made for their respective tasks, separate apps or no.Īnd if you're really set on using The Google Way, then asking Google themselves what the options are (you do have a paid subscription with full mail-in/phone support, I take it?) might be a better option than asking some random redditors.Note: If you don’t click on Open as Window, then the shortcut will open Gmail in the Chrome Browser. Keep in mind that a platform is just that: a platform. If all you want is to have an integrated workspace, then you're stuck with the online environment, using tabs in Chrome. True productivity is based on using the right tool for the job, because that allows you to use the service the tool is catered for to its fullest.

Google does not offer a combined suite of Offline Apps like MS Office, because they are an online service provider - who knows, that might even change in the future, but for now, all they offer is their online services that actually do cater to use through specialized apps - Google has included full IMAP/iCAL support because they know many people will have that available to them by means of their own preferred apps, like (for example) Outlook. and yet we offer the Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams app) on all our workstations because having an actual app that is made to work with the various parts of the provided services allows for better productivity and an easier workflow, because each of the individual parts allow you to focus on the one particular task you are performing - and if we were to tell our users that they couldn't use these offline tools anymore (because hey, the whole suite is available online anyway), there'd be a massive revolt. Mail is online, Office apps are online, Calendar is online, Teams is online.

You seem to be somewhat hard set on focusing on the fact that these services are (naturally) available through Google's Online Services front-end through a set of related URLs.Īt the company I work at, we use Office 365.
